Swift

Moving money between people, banks and currencies often means several apps, unclear fees and long waits. Swift brings it into one calm wallet, where the balance, the fee and the arrival time are always clear before you confirm.

Self-initiated concept, 2026

01 Problem

People who earn, save or spend across currencies often juggle a bank app, a wallet and a separate transfer service. Each step adds doubt about what will arrive and when.

Pain point 01

Too many apps

Sending, receiving and swapping usually live in different places.

Pain point 02

Unclear costs

Fees and exchange rates are often clear only after a transfer is made.

Pain point 03

Uncertain timing

People are left unsure when their money will actually arrive.

02 Goals

Three design targets guided the work. They are targets for a concept, to be validated in usability testing.

Target 01

3 taps

To repeat a transfer to someone you have paid before.

Target 02

No surprises

Fee, rate and arrival time shown before every confirmation.

Target 03

One home

Send, receive and swap all reachable from the home screen.

03 Research

As a concept, Swift began with a desk review of three product categories rather than user interviews. The patterns below shaped the brief.

Category

Bank apps

Trusted and complete, but often dense, with transfers buried among many services.

Category

Mobile wallets

Quick for local payments, but crowded with offers that compete for attention.

Category

Remittance apps

Clear for sending abroad, but built for one task rather than daily money.

Opportunity

Swift

Combine the trust of a bank with the speed of a wallet and the clarity of a remittance app.

04 Users

Two proposed personas kept decisions focused. They are assumptions for this concept, not findings from interviews.

Proposed persona

Ada, freelance designer

Paid in dollars, spends in naira. Needs to know exactly what she will receive after a swap.

Proposed persona

Tobi, small business owner

Pays the same suppliers every week. Needs repeat transfers to be quick and easy to track.

07 Wireframes

Low-fidelity layouts settled the hierarchy first, so the balance and main actions were right before any colour was added.

WHY SWIFT

Fast when you need it. Safe all the time.

01

Sign up in minutes

A short form, one code, and your wallet is ready. No paperwork, no branch visits.

02

Everyone is verified

Every account passes an identity check, so you know who you are paying before you pay.

03

Every transfer, findable

Filter by money in, money out or swaps, and keep a clear record of it all.

04

You stay in control

Freeze a card, set limits and choose who can send to you, all in one tap.

13 Key decisions

Review screen

Decision 01

Show the full cost before confirming

The fee, the amount received and the arrival time all sit on one review screen, so nobody finds out the real cost after paying.

Swap screen

Decision 02

Hold the exchange rate for 30 seconds

A visible timer locks the rate during a swap, so the amount on screen is the amount received.

Recipient screen

Decision 03

Put recent people first

Most transfers go to the same few people, so recent contacts sit above search and make repeat payments quick.

14 All screens

The complete product covers 15 screens, from onboarding through to profile and settings.

15 Expected outcome

Swift has not launched, so these are the outcomes the design is built to support and the measures to use in testing.

Measure: time to send

Faster repeat transfers

Recent contacts and a single review step shorten the path.

Measure: fee questions

Fewer cost questions

Showing the fee and rate first answers them before they arise.

Measure: task success

More confidence

Clear receipts and status give people proof that money has moved.

16 Learnings

What I learned

Clarity builds trust

In a money app, showing the right number at the right moment does more than any visual detail.

Next steps

Test with real people

Run usability tests with freelancers and small business owners, then refine the flows using what they do.

Have an idea worth building?

Whether you're building something new, improving an existing product, or looking for a design partner who thinks beyond the interface, I'd love to hear about it.
